Attention Artists: On-going Artist Call for Greenwood-Phinney Art Walk

Nicole Stremlow Monahan from Art On The Ridge has volunteered to put together an on-going database for artists interested in participating in the Art Up G-P monthly artwalk. Artists interested in participating may submit their work and contact information to her so that any businesses that need artists can access this database.

Please let her know if you would like to be on this list. To clarify, this will put you on a list of artists who are willing to be contacted by Greenwood-Phinney businesses to potentially be featured in a business venue during a month agreed upon between that business and the artist. The art walks are always the second Friday of each month. If you have any questions, or would like to be listed with the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Artists list, please do not hesitate to contact her. Also, please feel free to pass this on to other artists you think might be interested.

WOODLAND PARK ZOO AND PIPER VILLAGE HOST FINAL PENGUINS ON THE MARCH SILENT AUCTION ON SEPTEMBER 11

Silent Auction Open to the Public, Featuring Artist-decorated, Fabricated Penguins by Seattle Artists
All Proceeds will Benefit Woodland Park Zoo’s Field Conservation Program

WHAT: Woodland Park Zoo invites Seattle area residents to the new Greenwood development Piper Village for the final Penguins on the March silent auction on Friday, September 11th, between 6 – 9pm, during the monthly Art Up Greenwood-Phinney art walk. During the auction, Piper Village will also celebrate the grand opening of Mud Bay Granary and invites Seattle residents to bring their families and their furry-friends along for the fun.

Piper Village will host a festival-like event during the silent auction and art walk designed to bring this Seattle community together on this historic day in honor of family, laughter, animals and local art. Activities will be tailored to adults, children and man’s best friend – dogs. The evening will include:
- Crafts for kids provided by Top Ten Toys (FREE)
- Taproot Theatre Improv team performance at 7:30pm (FREE)
- Dog-friendly activities and goodies provided by Mud Bay Granary (FREE)

- Humboldt penguin-themed fun provided by Woodland Park Zoo (FREE)
- Face painting station by Colorific Kids ($5 – $14)

Most importantly, the event will feature twenty-five artist decorated penguins in a silent auction. In fact, fifty-four Seattle artists of all ages and experience levels painted, embellished and decorated these fabricated penguins. This community celebration of art and wildlife conservation is inspired by Woodland Park Zoo’s brand new Humboldt penguin exhibit, which opened in May. These penguins have been migrating through Seattle neighborhoods including Greenwood, Phinney Ridge, Ballard, Fremont and Wallingford since early June.

About twenty-five of these penguins will be auctioned off to benefit Woodland Park Zoo’s field conservation program. Woodland Park Zoo supports 38 wildlife conservation projects in 50 countries worldwide, including the Humboldt Penguin Conservation Center at Punta San Juan.
