“Women in Stitches” by Cindy Steiler. Past and Present merge with a modern take on an old craft passed down through generations. This show is a collection of portraits of women stitched on antique homespun linen and embellished with bisque doll arms. The arms were dug from the grounds of abandoned doll factories in Thuringia, Germany which operated between 1880-1920 and were destroyed in the war. These antique materials add to the story of the pieces and add a touch of history to the simple imagery. Artist present.
