Celebrate Seattle Summer Streets in Greenwood-Phinney: Fri, Aug 13 from 6-9pm

We are pleased to announce that Summer Streets are back in Greenwood-Phinney and will be held in conjunction with our Art Up monthly artwalk on Friday, August 13th from 6-9pm. It’s everybody’s street.

Imagine the possibilities. Greenwood /Phinney Avenue from N 87th Street to N 65th Street is being closed to cars and opened up for people to play, walk, bike, shop, dance, and relax. Come out and enjoy great food, mingle with your neighbors, look at great art and support local businesses. The Gumshoe 5K starts the same day and Children’s Hospital is sponsoring a kid’s obstacle course. Everyone is invited.

Background
In 2008, the city piloted Car Free Days. Our goal was to open up streets for biking, walking and playing; promote healthy, affordable activities; and encourage people to think about using sustainable types of transportation. In 2009, the program was rebranded to Celebrate Seattle Summer Streets and expanded to support local businesses, art walks, farmer’s markets, parades and a 5K walk/run fundraiser event. The events were bigger and better and the call from communities to hold them more often is being heard.

How to Get Involved:

Summer Streets Exhibits and Activities
Summer Streets features businesses and non-profits who contribute to making the community and the world a better place. The events give exhibitors the opportunity to engage with the neighborhood face to face and could include small community businesses, non-profit organizations and samplers. If you would like to participate in Summer Streets, fill out the form below.

Summer Streets Exhibitor Application
Please submit your application at least two weeks prior to the event(s) you are interested in and we will get in touch with you. Additional licenses, insurance, and fees may apply.
