Call for Artists: Phinneywood Artwalk "The BIG One"

Greenwood-Phinney celebrates their 16th year of ANNUAL ARTWALKS!

As many of you know, there is a monthly artwalk that has been in place for 2 years. The monthly artwalk is not a juried artwalk and each venue selects their own artists. There are usually about 30 participating venues for the monthly artwalk. The Annual Artwalk is what we now refer to as "The BIG One" and includes jurying artists and placing them in venues, as well as, having a best of show featured in the Phinney Neighborhood Gallery. There are about 70 participating venues for "The BIG One".

If you are an artist interested in participating in the Annual Artwalk, please see the call to art below:

The 16th annual Greenwood-Phinney ArtWalk is open to all 2D and 3D visual artists living or working in the greater Puget Sound area. The ArtWalk will be May 13 and 14, 2011. Entry deadline is March 11, 2011.

A Call for Artists with additional information about the event and the entry form is available on the Phinney Neighborhood Association Website

Her work often deals with dichotomies and forces that seem at odds with each other. Her most recent body of work explores the complexities surrounding what it feels like to be an individual in a globalized society recovering from financial collapse, and how this is shaping the way we experience our world, ranging from our cities, to our internal emotions, to how we experience nature. "Bring Me Home" by Deborah Walker

Strut: 7511 Greenwood Ave N
Deborah Walker moved to Seattle in 1980 and began the struggle to find her own voice. The interest in psychology resurfaced but entered from a very different direction. The images came from inside. Through working with dreams, Jungian Analysis, Shamanic Soul Work and Astrology, a process of growing and healing unfolded. She continued to show throughout the northwest and has been included several times in the Pacific Northwest Annual at the Bellevue Art Museum, the Oregon, Washington Biennial at the Maryhill Museum of Art and other juried exhibitions. She has had solo shows in the Seattle area at the King County Arts Commission Gallery, the Kent Arts Commission Gallery, and Galley 110. Her most recent exhibition was at Patricia Cameron Gallery in Seattle, WA.

Walker explores deep psychological, mystical and environmental concerns in carefully composed mixed media paintings. In our environment where images hang like a disturbance in the air around us, she would like to bring the viewer to a place of provocative thought-full-ness; a reflective place where mystery and beauty lie in the quiet magic of the unknown. Artist present.
