Gainsbourg: 8550 Greenwood Ave N
Best known for his surrealistic cityscapes and sultry portraits, Ethan Jack Harrington’s paintings provide viewers with a whimsical perspective of the constantly evolving world. As a plein-air oil painter, the artist captures scenes in-person, in real-time; when a subject earns his attention, Harrington sets up his easel on a sidewalk, rooftop or in an alley and quickly paints the area as he sees it at that moment. Influenced and taught by his father Jack Harrington, a professional impressionistic oil painter and illustrator, Harrington has painted professionally for 20 years. His intensely unique style and skill has developed into what is now an easily recognizable trademark among collectors.

The girls' club pledge never promised camping would be easy...for the moms. In the late night mayhem of a backwoods campout a storm rages outside, while a squall builds inside the cabin. Set against tranquil mountains, the close quarters, diverse backgrounds and differing walks of life collide, spurring hilarious but meaningful conversations about race, religion and parenting. Directed by Karen Lund, Brownie Points runs through June 18.

The "BIG ONE": 16th Annual Artwalk Fri, May 13 & Sat, May 14

We're celebrating the 16th year for what was previously called the Annual Artwalk. Since a monthly artwalk has been in place for a couple of years, we didn't want to lose the special feel of the Annual and so we are now referring to it as the "Big One". What makes this different from the monthly, is that this is a 2-day event with more than double the participating venues along with a select number of juried artists.

70 venues hosting art on Friday, May 13th from 6-9pm and Saturday, May 14th from noon - 5pm, up and down the Greenwood-Phinney neighborhood!

About the Artist:
Much of my inspiration as an artist comes from my life experiences and philosophies. My creative process incorporates my life experiences in a variety of ways. I often add photography from my travels. In India I bought hand-carved woodblock stamps and tikka powder, which I use in my paintings to create vibrant colors and interesting textures. I use gestural brush strokes to layer the paint on the canvas, and often repeat the process incorporating circular shapes, splatters and drips.

Yoga has changed my life in many ways and influenced my paintings as well. Painting is a bit of meditation for me yet this does not mean I am unaware of what I am doing. In fact I am more aware when I am creating, each drip or stroke or the feeling of the paint is noted. My style is continually evolving. I am excited to see how my work develops and where I’ll find inspiration next. My passion for beauty, culture, love, and life inspires me to explore and create, and I hope that comes through in my paintings.

Jeremy Kronbach’s art is deeply informed by his world travels. From his childhood in West Africa to more recent exploration in Central America, Jeremy has captured the vivid colors from these places and translated them to canvas. His painting process is similar to the traveling process itself. As the layers reveal their nuance, some elements remain, their weight and significance undeniable; others are covered over by new information as the journey continues.
Incorporating pure abstraction, elements of cultural motif and the occasional representational object, his work reads as the chronicle of his travels abroad.

"Fashion Victims Series" by Redd Walitzki

Bherd Studios Gallery (Greenwood Collective)
8537 Greenwood Ave N, Suite 1
Bherd Studios Gallery is pleased to present “XX” a tribute to the female chromosomes featuring an all female line-up of six urban contemporary PNW artists: 179, Jenn Brisson, Sly Cooley, Tessa Hulls, Devon Urquhart and Redd Walitzki. Each of these talented artists provoke thoughtful introspection into social mores & hierarchy; beauty, fashion & consumption; and humanity from a woman’s point of view. From 179 incorporating environmental surroundings and folklore into her art to explore religion, culture and family structure to Urquharts anatomical contemplations of the fight for survival among species and our value that we put on being alive, and Walitzki’s delicate and ephemeral depictions of the nature of beauty, fashion and our unattainable desire for perfection… these artists create a heavy hit to the brain. However, as only a woman can truly do it, these messages are delivered in beautiful and interesting packages. Artists present.
